Peyrassol—Parc de Sculptures
A sculpture park on a centuries-old vineyard in Provence
Located on the historic vineyard estate Peyrassol northwest of Saint-Tropez, in the Var Département of the Provence region, is one of France’s most charming private sculpture parks. In 2001, the Brussels entrepreneur Philippe Austruy and his wife, gallery owner Valérie Bach, acquired the vineyard, which dates back to the year 1256. For the Franco-Belgian couple, wine, food, and hospitality are equally as important as contemporary art.
Nestled on the wooded grounds are—in addition to a separate exhibition hall— over sixty sculptures by artists like Jean Dubuffet, César, Gavin Turk, Bernar Venet, Jean Tinguely, and Jaume Plensa, among others—and the collection is being constantly expanded. In recent years, works by French artists like Jeanne Susplugas or Fabrice Langlade have also been added. The perfect blend of art, Provençal flavors, and warm Mediterranean sun comprise the charm of this special place.
